Subarachnoid blood

In the axial images of the brain using CT, there are subtle accumulations of high density material outlined in red in image b, representing acute subarachnoid hemorrhage.  In the patient who presents with a severe acute headache this can be a life threatening rupture of a cerebral berry aneurysm.
